Our College offers education from Prep to Year 12 ensuring continuity through all phases of learning. We strive to support and encourage every individual student to reach their potential and feel a sense of belonging and pride in all that they do.  The way that students wear their uniform, speak to others and behave, is a very important part of their development at Capalaba State College. Being well disciplined in all aspects of their college life prepares them well for the workplace or tertiary study and as future citizens.

Not to be outdone by the Royal Shakespeare Company (UK) or the World Shakespeare Festival, Capalaba State College Drama students recently launched their own ‘Shakespeare Festival’. For the month of May, Drama & Dance students from Years 10-12 will create and perform Shakespeare’s works. Year 12 Drama students will perform King Lear on 15 May from 6:30pm in the Cultural Centre at the College. Performance events based on A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Romeo and Juliet will also feature in the festival. An excursion to view Queensland Theatre Company’s production of Romeo and Juliet is also on the festival program. Capalaba State College students and staff can also look forward to lunch time events throughout May including a Shakespeare Trivia Challenge.
The festival launch included an Elizabethan-style procession by Queen Elizabeth (I), Year 12 student Sarah Davis, supported by her Lady in Waiting (Angela Murray) and Royal Herald (Shaydar Thomson). William Shakespeare (Jesse Benjamin) was summoned to celebrate the festival in his honour. May was declared to be a month of celebration of Shakespeare’s works at Capalaba State College. Head Of Department and Drama teacher Debb Wall reported that students were embracing the challenges of performing Shakespeare’ s plays and enthusiastically rehearsing for their festival.

Assessment Calendars

Students in Year 7 and 8 should receive their Assessment Calendars during week 3. It is important for students to plan their term so that they don’t have last minute rushes on assignments etc. Please ask your young person about this calendar and maybe discuss the timelines in consideration of family commitments and work out a bit of a timeline for working on assignments and studying for assessment.

Assesment planners for students in year 7-10 are available online here

At Capalaba State College, part of the Futures Program for Year 10, 11 and 12 students is to provide the opportunity for students to participate in Structured Work Placement (Work Experience) in various different occupations and vocations. Students enquire regularly about experiencing different careers whilst making informed decisions about pathways in the Senior Phase of Learning. We are currently seeking interest from any local community employers and businesses in supporting our students through the Work Placement Learning Program by offering opportunities for students to participate in Structured Work Placement. Students need to participate in Work Experience for 80 hours.
