During the short lockdown, Capalaba State College - Senior Campus teachers will implement an online learning approach that follows the daily timetable.

Preparation for Learning from Home, Students should

  1. Establish a good study place to complete your school work
  2. Organise their day to follow the timetable from 8:30am to 2:30pm
  3. Be responsible and make sure that their iPad is fully charged and that they have the correct equipment for the day
  4. Check their email every day and Outlook calendar to join a Teams meeting
  5. Unless they are unwell, be expected to participate in your timetabled lessons
  6. Go on Teams at 8:30am to read any important messages for your year level
  7. Be punctual for each lesson
  8. Engage with the lessons across the day via Microsoft Teams and OneNote adhering to the ICT Acceptable Use Policy
  9. Work hard during each lesson and seek feedback if required
  10. It may not be possible to cover as much during a lesson but the intent is to keep students up to date and in a school routine as much as possible

How will lessons be conducted

  • Teachers will deliver lessons using TEAMS and OneNote
  • Teachers will set up the lesson on Teams and will give you instructions for that lesson.
  • After the initial instructional phase, students will be given work to complete and the teacher will be available to provide feedback
  • The lesson will go for 60 minutes only so that staff and students can prepare for the next lesson and have a 10 minute break to do so.
  • Children of essential workers who are on campus will complete the same online lesson presented to students who are learning from home

Using Microsoft Teams for Learning from Home

Please remember that all conversations online must adhere to the ICT Acceptable Use Policy and College Code of Conduct.  Students are not to use the platform like social media.  They should always be polite and respectful to staff and other students.

Protocols

  1. Students are to have their video camera off and microphone muted until instructed otherwise
  2. This is a formal meeting time so student engagement and communication with staff and students will be expected to meet the same high standards as face to face interactions.
