Through the study of English, individuals learn to analyse, understand, communicate and build relationships with others and the world around them. It helps create confident communicators, imaginative and critical thinkers, and informed citizens.

The arts engage our senses and give us ways to imagine, celebrate, communicate and challenge ways of knowing, being, doing and becoming.

Mathematics provides students with essential mathematical knowledge, skills, procedures and processes in number, algebra, measurement, space, statistics and probability.

Technologies enrich and impact on the lives of people and societies globally. They can play an important role in transforming, restoring and sustaining societies and natural, managed and constructed environments.

Science is a dynamic, collaborative and creative human endeavour arising from our desire to make sense of our world. Through science, we explore the unknown, investigate universal phenomena, make predictions and solve problems.

Health and Physical Education enables students to develop skills, understanding and willingness to positively influence the health and wellbeing of themselves and their communities.

The Humanities and Social Sciences are the study of human behaviour and interaction in social, cultural, environmental, economic, business, legal and political contexts.

Learning a language(s) broadens students’ horizons in relation to the personal, social, cultural and employment opportunities that an increasingly interconnected and interdependent world can offer.

Vocational Education & Training

In partnership with external RTOs, we offer nationally recognised VET qualifications onsite to Year 10 students - practical, workready training that counts.
  • HLT23221 - Certificate II in Health Support Services*
  • MEM20422 - Certificate II in Engineering Pathways*
*Please note: Enrolment in these qualifications is subject to the Department of Training and Employment's final publication of the 2026 Career Ready funded qualifications. Capalaba State College will confirm delivery arrangements with SAS before finalising Career Ready VET enrolments for 2026.

School-Based Apprenticeships & Traineeships

From Year 10, students can take on a School-Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship (SBAT). Typically, this means four days a week at school for regular classes, and a fifth day in the workplace - gaining hands-on experience and getting paid at the award rate.

Our Industry Liaison Officer helps students explore and secure these opportunities.
