The Excursion Name:
RACQ Driver Distraction (Year 11)
Excursion Date:
Oct 30, 2024
Excursion Description:
The RACQ Driver Distraction Program is a 70-minute road safety awareness initiative that is offered free of charge to Year 11 students in Queensland. Driver distraction is one of the Fatal 5 that is becoming an increasing concern. This new program is designed to equip participants with tangible strategies to empower them to take greater control over their own road safety.
In the Driver Distraction program, students will view a mock crash scenario that occurred as a result of distracted driving. This film provides a catalyst to explore the key themes of brain development, the social nature of adolescents, technology and the young, novice driver space, to examine the interrelated and inextricably linked concepts of feelings, friends, phones and cognitive overload as they relate to travelling in a vehicle.
