Capalaba State College is part of the 2021 Premier's Reading Challenge and everyone between Prep and Year Nine is welcome to join in.

Key Dates:
  • May 10: Reading period commences for Prep to Year 9 students (it's already open!)
  • August 27: Reading period ends, Student reading record forms submitted to schools
  • October: Certificates of Achievement issued
  • November 1 to 12: Premier's Reading Challenge celebration weeks
Every student participating should record how many books they read on the reader record form. Every student who completes the challenge will receive a Certificate of Achievement signed by the Premier.

To complete the challenge:
  • Prep to Year 2 must read or experience at least 20 books,
  • Years 3 and 4 must read at least 20 books, and
  • Years 5 to 9 must read at least 15 books.
Reader record sheets will be sent home by the Classroom Teacher on Junior Campus (after Monday) and will be available on the Senior Campus in each year level 'Teams'.

Experiencing books can include shared reading, listening to stories, or reading picture books. The aim for the 2021 challenge is to engage more students to read than ever before.

You can play a big part in your student's future by encouraging them to be part of this positive initiative. I look forward to seeing as many of our students as possible take part in the 2021 Premier's Reading Challenge.
