I have seen in some
Facebook group chats (yes, I get screenshots) that parents weren't sure which uniforms they needed:
- Mainstream - formal uniform
with sports uniform for sports days / HPElessons
- Mainstream Prep - prep
uniform only
- Montessori (all year levels)-
sports uniform
- High Capacity (all year
levels) - sports uniform
Stationery ListsStationery lists (https://capalabasc.eq.edu.au/support-and-resources/forms-and-documents) can
still be ordered for Mainstream and High Capacity students.
Montessori Students
do not need a stationery list as the resources are included in the fee.
iPad DeploymentIf you are in Year
10, 11 or 12, and would like your iPad, please attend the Senior Campus Library
between 8:30 - 2:30 on Thursday 27th January 2022. Please be patient and COVID
safe when lining up or waiting.
Year 10 do not need
iPads for online learning, but we are trying to speed up the process when we
return to school. If we can accommodate future year levels next week, we will
advise you.
Update on Staffing ShortagesThe Junior Campus is
very comfortably staffed with additional Teachers working on site all term,
relieving for anyone that may need to quarantine (this reduces the need for
random / short notice relief teachers).
Senior Campus are
still looking for a couple of people based on a last minute promotion, a last
minute health complication and a last minute decision not to vaccinate. This
should be finalised this week however, and we will be sitting comfortably ready
for almost any scenario that pops up.
Out of 200-ish
staff, we have 6 people currently suspended due to the mandates. We have backup
plans and will share this once we finalise that the person suspended will or
won't be back.
Online LearningI saw some Facebook group chats
about Years 7 - 10 needing access to their Teams. There is NO learning for years
7- 10 at this stage. Passwords will be reset, if necessary, once the iPads are
issued.
Year 7 Friendship
DayYear 7 Friendship

Senior Campus Swimming Carnival. The Senior Campus
Swimming Carnival is still scheduled for Friday 11th February.

be sent home when it is ready.
Year 12We had really
promising ATAR results from our 2021 Year 12 students. Everyone got their first

what they do in life is very rewarding!

EnrolmentsEnrolments have not
stopped. For a school that isn't doing much marketing at the moment, your
positive word-of-mouth is keeping us busy. We have been doing enrolment phone
calls every day since we got back.
Mandatory Vaccinations for KidsI have received a
few concerns from parents around mandatory vaccinations for COVID-19. I totally
understand your concerns, and would hope that my work in setting up multiple
ways for children to be educated would show that I believe in people having choice.
Currently there is no COVID-19 vaccination program
underway in Queensland state schools and we have been assured by Queensland
Health that there are no plans to mandate COVID-19 vaccinations for school
children. Students are able to attend school regardless of their vaccination
status. If, in the future, Queensland state school students
are included in the roll-out of COVID-19 vaccines on school sites, it is
expected that the program would be managed by an authorised immunisation
provider (not the school). In line with current practice, vaccinations (HPV and
Chickenpox for example) would only be given to students who have their
parent/carer’s written consent to receive them. Consent to COVID-19
vaccinations for children would need to be communicated directly to the
provider when requested as they are responsible for managing parental consent.
Schools are not responsible for communicating consent or non-consent on behalf
of parents. There are no current requirements for COVID-19
testing in Queensland state schools.Further information
for parents has been developed including frequently asked questionsStarting DateWe are anticipating
a full start on the 7th February, but I will confirm this closer to the date.
Bell times- our bell times (https://capalabasc.eq.edu.au/our-college/class-times) are published
on the website for your future reference
Where to go on day one (February 7th)The kids will love coming back in to the classroom on hot
days. The buildings were so lovely and cool. It is refreshing.
